The CVR is the UK's largest grouping of human and veterinary virologists. Its mission is to carry out fundamental research on viruses and viral diseases, translating the knowledge gained for the improvement of global health and benefit of society. The CVR has excellent facilities for conducting research in molecular biology and virology located in a purpose-built research building at the Garscube campus of the University of Glasgow. The CVR is a core component of the School of Infection & Immunity within the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences at the University of Glasgow.

CURRENT VACANCIES
BIOLOGICAL SAFETY MANAGER, Reference 153030
The University of Glasgow is seeking to appoint a talented and highly motivated Biological Safety Manager to manage all matters related to biological safety at the CVR.
The post holder will have a key role in research management focusing on biological safety issues. The successful candidate will interact with the University Safety and Environmental Protection Service, the UK Health and Safety Executive and other national and international regulatory agencies.
In addition, the post holder will act as Convenor of the CVR Safety Group responsible for safety management operations within the CVR and be part of the School Safety Committee. The post holder will play a key and active role within the CVR Containment Level 3 Management Group. The successful candidate will also take on the role of GM Biological Safety Officer for the local GM committee.
This post is full time and open ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
The appointment will be made on the MPA Grade, level 8 £48,350 - £56,021 per annum.

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN, Reference 153309
An opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Research Technician to join the CVR to provide general support to a laboratory focusing on research on virus pathogenesis, the mechanisms of virus-host interactions and cross-species transmission. The post holder will be responsible for maintaining high standards of safety, stock keeping, orders, setting up rotas, and general functioning of the laboratory. The post holder will also support virology experiments conducted in the laboratory and work with experimental animals.
This post is full-time and open-ended.
The appointment will be made on the Technical Grade, level 5 £25,138 - £29,605 per annum.
